Donning guide OP-gowns with open back

In these recommendations you will find guidance on how to don an OP-gown with open back.
1

Step 1

Take the sterile gown and step into an area where the gown can be opened without risk of contamination. Put both hands into the armholes on the folded gown. Hold the gown up and away from the body, and allow it to unfold completely. Ensure the gown does not touch the floor.
2

Step 2

Slip both hands and forearms into the armholes and sleeves. Keep hands at shoulder level and away from the body.
3

Step 3

If you are performing open glove donning, pull the cuff to the thumb level and grip it with your fingers from the inside. If you are performing closed glove donning, push the hands to the edge of the cuff.
4

Step 4

The assisting nurse should pull the gown over the shoulders, touching only the inside of the gown.
5

Step 5

The assisting nurse should tie the tie-bands at the back of the neck.
6

Step 6

The assisting nurse should tie the belts of the gown at the back and ensure tight bands closure.
7

Step 7

Don the gloves.
