Nordic Swan Ecolabel certification for Embra® Gravity Set (PVC free)

Evercare Medical has obtained Nordic Swan Ecolabel certification for the Embra® Gravity Set (PVC-free). This is the first-ever medical device under the Evercare Medical brands to receive a Nordic Swan Ecolabel certification. It is also the first gravity infusion set on the market to receive an ecolabel.

As one of the world's toughest environmental certifications, the Nordic Swan Ecolabel is awarded only to products and services that meet ambitious environmental requirements.

The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is holistic. It promotes resource efficiency, reduced climate impact, a non-toxic circular economy, and conservation of biodiversity – always with a strong focus on health. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is a:

• Type I ecolabel according to the standard ISO 14024.
• Trustworthy, independent, third-party certification providing companies with documentation on environmental excellence.

A Nordic Swan Ecolabelled Healthcare Product

A Nordic Swan Ecolabelled disposable healthcare product meets strict chemical, quality, and safety requirements to ensure the product is safe to use and performs as intended. The requirements include:

• PVC and latex are prohibited.
• The siloxanes D4, D5, and D6 are not allowed in silicone, but may be present as trace contaminants in limited amounts.
• Phthalates must not be added to plastics.
• Substances classified as environmentally hazardous, toxic, allergenic, endocrine-disrupting, or CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic to reproduction) must not be intentionally added to plastics or be present in adhesives.
• Products and components must comply with the Medical Device Regulation (EU) 2017/745.

Product overview

The Embra® Gravity Set is a sterile, single use device intended for gravity driven intravenous infusion. It connects to a source of infusion at one end and to an infusion device with vascular access at the other. Flow is regulated using a roller clamp. The set is suitable for use with glass bottles, glass vials, and plastic bags or bottles. The certified configuration is PVC-free, just as all our other products within this portfolio.
